This book is thorough and well written, with fine pictures. Its best
feature is that it is organized by specific parts of town, showing
museum locations in the area on a map, then describing each place in
detail. You can figure out how much time to spend in Pasadena, for
example, based on your particular interests. Although I focus on art
museums, I like to visit great architecture as well and this book
makes it easy to pick and choose. I have used hundreds of travel
books over the decades I spent in the travel industry, and this
makes my top ten list. I wish every major city had a guide book this
intelligent. And by the way, the best country guide book I have ever
used would be Turkey-a travel survival kit (Lonely Planet) by Tom
Brosnahan. Nobody does it better than these two guys! [amazon.com]

The art and relics of history can prove to quite intriguing to the
history buff. "Museum Companion to Los Angeles" is a guide to the
museums and similar attractions throughout Los Angeles, as Borislav
Stanic shows what these facilities have to offer in full color,
showing where to find them with ease and more. Organized well for
ease of use, "Museum Companion to Los Angeles" is a must for any
history buff who will soon find themselves in the Los Angeles area.
